Depth-based Gait Authentication for Practical Sensor Settings
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper investigates performances of silhouette-based and depth-based gait authentication considering practical sensor settings where sensors are located in an environments afterwards and usually have to be located quite near to people. To realize fair comparison between different sensors and methods, we construct full-body volume of walking people by a multi-camera environment so as to reconstruct virtual silhouette and depth images at arbitrary sensor positions. In addition, we also investigate performances when we have to authenticate between frontal and rear views. Experimental results confirm that the depth-based methods outperform the silhouette-based ones in the realistic situations. We also confirm that by introducing Depth-based Gait Feature, we can authenticate between the frontal and rear views.

Orientation-Compensative Signal Registration for Owner Authentication Using an Accelerometer
Gait-based owner authentication using accelerometers has recently been extensively studied owing to the development of wearable electronic devices. An actual gait signal is always subject to change due to many factors including variation of sensor attachment. In this research, we tackle to the practical sensor-orientation inconsistency, for which signal sequences are captured at different senso...
متن کاملGait-based Authentication using Trouser Front-Pocket Sensors
Recently, to reduce the inconvenience caused by authentication operations in portable terminals, various authentication methods based on behavior characteristics have been studied. Gait-based authentication is one of them. This authentication method identifies individuals based on walking motions measured by wearable sensors such as acceleration sensors. This study aims to improve the authentic...
متن کاملRobustness of Biometric Gait Authentication Against Impersonation Attack
This paper presents a gait authentication based on timenormalized gait cycles. Unlike most of the previous works in gait recognition, using machine vision techniques, in our approach gait patterns are obtained from a physical sensor attached to the hip. Acceleration in 3 directions: up-down, forward-backward and sideways of the hip movement, which is obtained by the sensor, is used for authenti...
متن کاملInertial Sensor-Based Robust Gait Analysis in Non-Hospital Settings for Neurological Disorders
The gold standards for gait analysis are instrumented walkways and marker-based motion capture systems, which require costly infrastructure and are only available in hospitals and specialized gait clinics. Even though the completeness and the accuracy of these systems are unquestionable, a mobile and pervasive gait analysis alternative suitable for non-hospital settings is a clinical necessity....
متن کاملThe largest inertial sensor-based gait database and performance evaluation of gait-based personal authentication
This paper presents the largest inertial sensor-based gait database in the world, which is made open to the research community, and its application to a statistically reliable performance evaluation for gaitbased personal authentication. We construct several datasets for both accelerometer and gyroscope of three inertial measurement units and a smartphone around the waist of a subject, which in...
